On Wednesday 8th February we had
a talk with a lady called Rebecca, who came and spoke to us about her travel
and tourism experiences. She told us all about where she started from, which
was a Travel and Tourism course at Abingdon and Witney College, and where she
went from that point onwards.
Listening to her past experiences, like being a rep on a cruise ship and
travelling around Australia with her boyfriend, putting a mattress in the back
of their truck, I found really interesting as she opened up to us the things
that you can do that are not just the typical jobs that people would suggest to
you. Continuing on from her Australia travels, she explained to us her process
and how they funded their travels. Starting off in one destination and getting
a job there for a few months earning money to go to their next desired place.
This intrigued me as this is similar to what I want to do when I go travelling.
She put into perspective how much time and
how much we can actually all do at our age that can give us the best
experiences and change our lives. This made me realise that there isn't
actually that much stopping me from what I want to do and where I want to go. I
felt like she opened up my perspective to the different things I would be able
to do that didn’t require going to university, or working in a typical travel agents
in town.
I feel like listening to Rebecca's travel
story has benefitted me, as hearing someone else's story made me think that I
want to be able to tell people my travel experiences and where I went and what
I saw. I would feel like I would've definitely achieved the goals that I have
set myself, and didn’t restrict myself to doing what I want due to confidence.
Being able to do and see the things that Rebecca has and more would fulfill me
as a person.
