During the second week of college for our Business, Accounting
and Travel students, 113 of them found their own way to St Anne’s College of
Oxford University for a 9.00 breakfast meeting to find out their tasks for the
day. The challenge of finding an address in unfamiliar surroundings was just
the beginning of developing their employability skills and the start of an
exciting day. In teams of 6, they used the Hop On Hop Off city centre tourist
buses to find out information to complete questions and discover the many
interesting facts about Oxford.
Each group met with a tutor at lunch time to review their
progress and agree the reflective tasks for the afternoon session. At 15.30, we
all met up again for tea and cake at St Anne’s to review the day.
The content of the tasks will be used for learning and assessment over
the coming term, including teams and leadership, UK destinations and data for
accounting examples!
