BOOTCAMP 2015!

During the second week of induction, all TOBES Futures students attended Bootcamp for 2.5 days. This took place in a 31 acre activity camp in The New Forest and offered a host of activities and camping experience.

Bootcamp set the scene for the standards expected from TOBES students and provided fantastic opportunities for developing their transferable employability skills right from the beginning of their time with us. Through a range of activity skills including high ropes, orienteering, mobile team challenges, volleyball, drill, den building, and fire building, students developed many skills.

They learned to become not only task orientated, but also to consider how to support others and interact with people unknown to them. Using their initiative to get their team working together, they were taken out of their comfort zone and challenged to embrace the diversity of their working groups.

Bootcamp also promoted self-reliance as students found themselves in a remote location and responsible for ensuring they have appropriate clothing and equipment and that they are in the right location at the right time. Punctuality, self-motivation and even personal hygiene are all challenged.

Bootcamp is a fantastic experience for students and amongst the banter and high fives, they develop their inner strength and resilience, and a can-do attitude.
